Seanachie

Story Teller

The main goal of our Irish Cultural Society is to preserve and further the knowledge of our heritage. With this in mind, there are many stories which should be handed down to our children and kept alive.

Myths are part of a history which usually happened in some form, but as the years have passed were told as fairy tales or in the form of songs. These stories have been passed down through generations by a grandparent telling their grandchildren and those grandchildren passing it on to the next generation. This way all stories or fairy tales stay.

In Ireland, the Seanachie was the story teller. This person was the “historian” for the town, helping to keep the legends alive.

Therefore, we must have a Seanachie or Story Teller page in our web site. This site will not be limited to just stories. We will also try to show crafts which might be used to demonstrate a particular story or legend. Each story will have it’s own area which we will connect by using a link. You will need to click on the link of your choice to view these great pages. Look below for the links which will be added to as we find new and interesting stories or crafts.
